Sunday Sunrise

I think *(Asterisk) is a clear winner here - best sunset last night and also best sunrise this morning. (In the UK at least). Shep, who I think started all this, is clearly in the wrong part of the country. I may have had the worst sunset but I think my sunrise is acceptable.

Pickled Olives on the other side of the water is half-way there. As is From a Lofty Perch.

Tanya has a sunrise that was definitely worth getting up for and Candy Minx has joined us too.

Very nice, Ems. While I don't agree I'm "the winner" (partly cos I didn't know it was a competition), I am pleased with both my shots, even though I feel I didn't quite capture the full beauty of what I saw. I love your first pic here, though, and the second is really good, too.

Shep must be gutted, down there in the dingy southwest, or "no-sun country" as I'll call it from now on. Pah!

Well, I don't know I meant winner in a competition sense either - perhaps the luckiest with the weather and the camera. This is definitely an occasion for that slightly awful phrase 'it's the taking part that counts.' Great fun. Felt like a kid again sneaking out early with the camera.

Perhaps we should try something else over Christmas? Best of... Worst of... Something like that?

Yeah, it was fun. I was up a whole hour too early, but I didn't mind. I think I'll suffer later, though.

But Blogger is being such a bugger today.

Oh my god, these are fantastic, really everyones are so cool. I think this has been such a great idea.

A very interesting feeling to take the photos and find myself paying attention, often I am just around and not looking. I have finally woken up...was pretty tired all morning here, what am I seven hours behind you? I think so.

If you want to link my photos here is the URL:

I think my sunrise has been pipped by Tanya's. Not that it's a contest or anything ;-)

Candy and Tanya - I'm trying to link you in the post but as you know Blogger is being troublesome today. I'll get there eventually.

I love the Dome picture. Whilst it useless for pretty much everything else, it's perfect for picturesque views. I remember sitting outside a pub in Greenwich in the evening with the Dome lit up in the background, it was beautiful.

Ye olde country saying:

Red sky at night - shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning - pollution.
